第 38 回基礎生物学研究所コンファレンス「分化および形態形成における可塑性」は、平成 6 年 3 月に開催された第 33 回基礎生物学研究所コンファレンス「再生の細胞および分子レベ ルの機構へのアプローチ」に引き続き、再生研究に焦点をあてたコンファレンス として開催された。今回は、3 年間の研究の進捗状況を報告しあうとともに、再生現象を構成する重要な要素である「可塑性」に注目し、さまざまな生物材料を比較しながら発表・討論が繰り広げられた。参加者は、国外から 14 名、国内各研究機関および基礎生物学研究所から 32 名を数え、親密な雰囲気の元でさまざまな実質的討論がおこなわれた。
