オオギヤシ属 Borassus の仲間の雄花序を縦切りにして乾燥したものがタルホーンと呼ばれて装飾用に用いられる。

タルホーンの花序（A)の一部（白枠内）を拡大すると（B）、苞に雄のサソリ型花序が抱かれている。サソリ型花序には雄花（Cの白点線）が配列し、順次苞の隙間から開花する。雄花は6本の雄蕊を持つ（2つの葯を水色で示す）（Dransfield et al. 2008)。

タルホーンはパナマソウの花序に似ているが良く見ると異なっている。
Tal horn is superficially similar to an inflorescence of the Cyclanthaceae, but the detailed morphology is different.
