ツルデンダのようにシダ類の何種かは葉の先に茎頂分裂組織と根端分裂組織を形成し栄養繁殖する。どうやって葉端分裂組織から頂端分裂組織や根端分裂組織を作るのだろうか。胚発生時と同じような仕組みだろうか。自己組織化を調べるのに良い系なのかもしれない。
