Modern genomic data can provide great insight into the natural history of organisms from humans to bacteria but requires new analysis tools. I will tell use of statistical genetic tools I have helped to develop (e.g. fineSTRUCTURE, GLOBETROTTER, CLONALFRAME) to tell stories about migration and adaptation in humans and bacteria (Campylobacter and Vibrio).
