RESEARCH: Epigenetic regulation at the fertilization

Assist. Prof. Yosuke Tamada Graduate students are welcome to join.

We found that polycomb repressive complex II protein CURLY LEAF, which regulates H3K27me3 depositions is detected in unfertilized sperm and egg cells but the signal disappears around the fertilization (Okano et al. 2009. PNAS 106: 16321-16326). Assist. Prof. Yosuke Tamada is working to develop new microscopy with adaptive optics to observe the epigenetic changes during fertilization process.
