ミヤコグサ Lotus japonicusは日本を含むアジアの温帯地域に広く自生しているマメ科の草本です。
ライフサイクルが短く、実験室内での遺伝解析が容易などの利点により、近年マメ科のモデル植物として広く利用されています。
私たちは、ミヤコグサや新規モデル生物であるアーバスキュラー菌根菌の基盤技術開発を通じて、共生のしくみや発生進化の解明に取り組んでいます。

Lotus japonicus is a wild legume belonging to family Fabaceae that grows in temperate zone of Asia including Japan. Small genome size, short life cycle and easy for transformation have made Lotusjaponicus a popular model plant for genome studies, particularly in reference to rhizobial and arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis.
Using this model plant, we’re working on unveiling the molecular mechanism of symbiotic systems between rhizobium / arbucular mycorrhizal fungi and legumes.
