The Fourth NIBB-EMBL SymposiumBiology of Protein Conjugation: Structure and FunctionDecember 3rd (Sun) - 5th (Tue), 2006 at Okazaki Conference Center,Sponsored by NINSDear participants,
On behalf of the organizing committee, we are delighted to invite you to the NIBB-EMBL Joint Meeting “Biology of Protein Conjugation: Structure and Function”, which will be held in Okazaki, Japan, from December 3 to 5, 2006. This joint meeting is a part of the international collaboration program between National Institute for Basic Biology (NIBB) and European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). Proteins are considered to be the most important biological macromolecules because they execute nearly all cell functions. To regulate the functions of proteins, protein modifications have been shown to play important roles. Among these protein modifications, the importance of protein phosphorylation has been well-documented. However, the conjugation of proteins with other macromolecules including proteins, lipids and sugars has recently been demonstrated to play critical roles in protein regulation. We therefore planned this 4th NIBB-EMBL meeting, Biology of Protein Conjugation: Structure and Function, to discuss these newly emerging protein conjugations, mainly from structural and functional views. To this end, we invited speakers who work on the structure and mechanism of protein conjugations. The meeting is a semi-closed one and has around 100 attendants from all over the world. We do believe all the attendants will enjoy the meeting. |
