【Effective Time Management in Core Facilities】

*Date: *This workshop is offered on two dates: 25 and 26 August 2021
*Time:* 12:30 – 16:00 Japan Standard Time (JST)

*Description:*
This workshop is organized and sponsored by Global BioImaging and delivered by hfp consulting (https://hfp-consulting.com/). Core facility managers and staff find themselves in a variety of different roles that demand a broad set of skills they traditionally haven’t been taught in their academic career. Fulfilling different professional roles such as scientist, expert, negotiator, administrator, accountant (to name only a few) requires good time management skills and clear guideline how to prioritise tasks and how to delegate them effectively.

【2021 OME Community Meeting】

(Deadline for Registration: 3 June 2021)

The OME Community Meeting is on 8-11 June 2021. This gathering has been held every year since 2005 bringing together a great group of experimental biologists, physicians, imaging and computational scientists and software developers to discuss the current state of imaging data technology and consider how we should move forward together as a community.

This year’s OME Community Meeting will be virtual, using pre-recorded talks and Zoom calls for discussions. Recordings will be later provided on YouTube.

We need to accommodate participants across a wide range of time zones so the schedule will be similar to 2020 with duplicated morning and evening sessions.

The current schedule and topics are:
* June 8 (Tuesday) — Welcome, Keynote and Demos
* June 9 (Wednesday) — Research Data Management
* June 10 (Thursday) — Public Resources
* June 11 (Friday) — Teaching and Training
Registration is free and open now: https://j.mp/ome2021-registration

【How to Optimize Remote Working】

When: 28 June 2021, 20:00 – 21:00 Japan Standard Time (JST)

This 1-hour webinar will focus how to optimize remote working and increase focus, reduce stress, and strengthen resilience. All of the techniques presented in this webinar are proven by science.

The webinar will cover the following points:
• How to manage your time and tasks while remote working
• Protecting focus energy for the most important work
• Create a simple mini routine to help you effectively switch off from work
• A simple technique to optimise restorative breaks (mini mindfulness based) – studies show restorative breaks help us cope and recover from stress

【Building an Imaging Core Facility from the ground up】

When: 13 July 2021, 23:00 – 2:00 Japan Standard Time (JST)

This workshop will feature several presentations on the topic of how to build an imaging core facility from the ground up. The speakers have extensive experience in how to build an imaging core facility (light and electron microscopy) from scratch. After the presentations, participants are invited to exchange their own experiences and discuss the building blocks of imaging core facilities and most common issues arising during the process.

Talks will be recorded and made publicly available for those who were not able to participate.
