The 9th NIBB-EMBL SymposiumFunctional Imaging from Atoms to OrganismsApril 20th (Mon) - 22nd (Wed), 2009 at Okazaki Conference Center,Sponsored by NINSWe are very happy to be able to host the 9th NIBB-EMBL joint symposium “Functional Imaging from Atoms to Organisms” which follows the 2nd joint symposium of the same series “Frontiers in Bioimaging” held in Okazaki in 2006. During the three years since then, we have witnessed great advances in technologies not only of instruments such as electron- and optical microscopes but also of systems that enable us to grasp an understanding of processes from the dynamic change of protein structures to the complex behavior of molecules in higher-order biological phenomena. On the other hand, it is becoming more and more important for us to develop and introduce new methodologies to quantify biological parameters in order to understand the intrinsic properties of various biological systems in living organisms and to lead to new discoveries of the principles underlying life. At this symposium, by gathering world-leading experts, we intend to consider and discuss the future direction of the filed of bioimaging. We the organizers, hope you will find the meeting rewarding and enjoyable. Organizers, Jan Ellenberg Kuniaki Nagayama Naoto Ueno |
