RNAi装置に関与するDicer遺伝子の条件的ノックアウト細胞を樹立し、Dicerが高等動物細胞においてもヘテロクロマチンの形成に重要な働きを担っていることを示した。また、キネトコア構築に関わる蛋白質同定の解析も行い、複数の構成的セントロメア蛋白質群によるキネトコア構築に関わる新知見を得た。
