OBC9 will be held at two separate sites – the first part of the conference will be held in Okazaki, located in the central area of Japan, and second part in Okinawa, a major southern island of Japan.

Access to the nearest Station to the Okazaki venue

From Central Japan International Airport (Centrair: NGO)

Take the CHITA BUS bound for JR Okazaki Station and get off at Higashi Okazaki (approximately 1 hr from the airport).

From Narita (Tokyo) International Airport

Recommended:

Transfer to a domestic flight to Central Japan International Airport.

Alternative:

Take JR Narita Express and get off at Tokyo Station (approximately 1 hr). From Tokyo station please follow the directions listed below.

From Tokyo Station

Take a Tokaido Shinkansen* ('bullet train') HIKARI or KODAMA and get off at Toyohashi Station (approximately 2 hrs and 30 min). At Toyohashi Station, change to the Meitetsu Railways Line (track #3)**. Take any train (the LIMITED EXPRESS trains are fastest, LOCAL trains are slowest) and get off at Higashi Okazaki Station (approximately 20 min from Toyohashi Station by LIMITED EXPRESS).

* Note: there are three types of Shinkansen: NOZOMI, HIKARI, and KODAMA. KODAMA trains stop in Toyohashi, of the HIKARI trains only one stops there every two hours, and no NOZOMI trains stop in Toyohashi.

** Note: Japan Rail (JR), operators of the Shinkansen, and Meitetsu Railways are two separate train lines, though both are accessed through the same station building. You will need to buy a separate ticket in order to ride the Meitetsu train.

Alternative:

Take a Tokaido Shinkansen NOZOMI and get off at Nagoya Station (approximately 2 hrs). Transfer to the Meitetsu Railways’ LIMITED EXPRESS (track #4) bound for Toyohashi and get off at Higashi Okazaki Station (approximately 30 min).

From Kansai (Osaka) International Airport

Take the JR Haruka airport shuttle train from Kansai Airport to Shin-Osaka Station (approximately 45 min) and change to the Tokyo-bound Tokaido Shinkansen*. At Nagoya Station (approximately 1 hr from Shin-Osaka Station) transfer to the Meitetsu Railways’ LIMITED EXPRESS (track #4) bound for Toyohashi and get off at Higashi Okazaki Station (approximately 30 min).

*Note: all of the Tokyo-bound Tokaido Shinkansen trains stop at JR Nagoya Station.

Accommodation

Guests will be staying at the Okazaki New Grand Hotel: a taxi ride from Higashi Okazaki Station takes approximately 5 min or 15 min walking.

Welcome Party

The party will take place at the Okazaki New Grand Hotel, where guests will stay during the first part of conference.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held at the Okazaki Conference Center (OCC). To reach OCC from Higashi Okazaki Station, exit the south entrance of the station and walk straight up the hill for approximately 10 min. The conference center will be on your left hand side

We also arrange a shuttle bus between the hotel and the conference venue.
