The Okazaki Biology Conferences
The Okazaki Biology Conferences are international conferences of the highest quality in the biological sciences and provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of cutting-edge research. In 2002 the senior faculty of the National Institute for Basic Biology initiated a discussion about the needs, in Japan, for a series of international conferences at which leading scientists could come together to discuss the most recent advances in specified fields of research. We decided that the National Institute for Basic Biology should sponsor a series of such conferences. We forwarded this proposal to a number of Japanese societies of biological science and they strongly supported our suggestion that the National Institute for Basic Biology should organize and host the conferences.
