Probe for tTA (TET-activator) was added to the Probe list. It can be used to confirm expression of TET-OFF/TET-ON activators. This probe was used in a collaborative work with Kinoshita et al (Isa lab)(ref 24). In this paper, pathway specific gene manipulation was enabled by double viral vector infection.

Mouse/rat probes for 5HT1A and 2A receptor genes were added to the Probe lists.  These probes were used in a collaborative work with Puig et al (Kawaguchi lab), in which the roles of serotonin signaling in fast-spiking (parvalbumin-positive) interneurons were examined in vivo (ref 22).  The image for mouse 5HT2C probe was updated.

A new paper was published from Yamamori lab (ref 21)  Axon guidance molecule Slit1 mRNA is preferentially expressed in the association areas in the macaque cortex.  Probes for Slit1, 2, 3 and their receptors ROBO1 and 2 were added to the Probe lists.
2010.1.18 Information on the alternative antibody for anti-FITC-POD (Roche; discontinued) was added to the protocol PDF for double ISH.

A new paper was published from Yamamori lab (ref 20)  PNMA5 Is preferentially expressed in the association areas in a primate-specific manner.  Probes for PNMA5 and its family genes were added to the Probe lists.

A new paper was published from Yamamori lab (ref 17-19) 17: Serotonin 1B and 2A receptor mRNAs are enriched in the primary visual area of monkey cortex, and are activity-dependent.  A panel of probes for 5-HT receptor gene family were added to the Probe lists.  18: Area-specific expression patterns of testican gene family in the monkey cortex were shown.  19: A collaboration with an Italian research group. A rat model of cortical dysplasia  was examined for cortical layers using a panel of layer-specific markers.  Cux-2, a marker for upper layer neurons was added to Probe llists.

A new paper was published from Yamamori lab (ref 16). In this paper, Cortical Box method (ref 15) was used to analyze the area-specific distribution patterns of three layer-marker genes, RORbeta, ER81, Nurrr1 in the rat cortex.  Accordingly, RORbeta gene was added to the Probe lists.  Cortical box method is a new analytical tool to investigate the area/lamina structure of the rat cortex.   For more information, visit here.  
2008.920 Permafluoro mounting media is not sold any more.  The alternative media is CC/Mount from Diagnostic Biosystems (India).  The protocol PDF has been revised accordingly.
2008.8.9 cardiac Troponin C (cTropC) gene was added to the Probe lists.  cTropC gene is expressed in layer 4 in the mouse cortex.  Its expression in the visual area is weaker than that in the surrounding visual association areas and dependent on the visual inputs.  See Lyckman et al (ref 14) for more details.  
2008.2.29 VGLUT2 gene was added to the Probe lists.  VGLUT1/VGLUT2 are good markers for glutamatergic neurons.  While antibody staining can reveal their localization in the synaptic terminals, ISH can reveal the cells of origin.  This probe was used in a recent paper by Kaneko Lab in Kyoto university (see ref 13).  The paper describe their detailed study on the colocalization of VGLUT1/VGLUT2 during postanatal development of mice.
2007.10.28 A new paper was published from Yamamori lab (see ref 12).  Two new genes, c-fos and zif268 (mouse & monkey) are now enlisted in Probe lists.  These genes are often used as activity markers.
